Family Nutrition
Feeding your family doesn't have to feel so complicated.

You're doing your best. You're reading the labels, trying to get vegetables on the table, navigating one kid who will only eat beige foods and another who suddenly decided they're vegetarian. Somewhere in between the meal prep and the mealtime meltdowns, you've lost track of what "eating well" is even supposed to look like anymore.

You're not alone in that, and you don't have to keep figuring it out by yourself.

At Radica Family Nutrition, we work with real families: busy ones, blended ones, ones with picky eaters and conflicting schedules and very strong-willed toddlers. Our approach is warm, non-judgmental, and grounded in the belief that feeding your family well doesn't have to mean feeding them perfectly. We meet you where you are — in your kitchen, in your routine, in the middle of whatever your family's mealtime looks like right now — and we build from there.

What Does Radica Family Nutrition Help With?

Starting solids Introducing food to your baby is one of the most exciting (and overwhelming, scary, and stressful) milestones of early parenthood. Purees or baby-led weaning? When to introduce allergens? What to do when they make a face and spit it out? We help you navigate it all, start solids with confidence, and lay the foundation for a lifelong healthy relationship with food — right from the very first bite.

Picky eating Picky (opinionated) eating is one of the most stressful and misunderstood parts of feeding a family. We help parents figure out what's actually going on developmentally, sensorially, and emotionally. We build strategies that reduce mealtime conflict without turning every dinner into a negotiation.

Raising intuitive eaters One of the greatest gifts you can give your child is a healthy relationship with food; one that is built on trust, body awareness, and the freedom to eat without guilt or fear. We help parents understand how to support that from the start, using Satter's Division of Responsibility and Intuitive Eating principles in a way that makes sense for your family's real life. And if you have your own "food stuff", we can help in your own healing so you don't pass it down to your kids.

Busy and blended family nutrition Different schedules, different preferences, and different needs usually all live under one roof. Feeding a busy or blended family is its own kind of logistical puzzle. We help you find a rhythm that works, with practical meal planning, flexible strategies, and a realistic approach that accounts for the chaos of actual family life.

Making sense of "healthy" The nutrition information out there is overwhelming and often contradictory. "Clean eating", processed foods, what kids "should and shouldn't" eat; it's a lot to think about! We help you cut through the noise and find an approach to feeding your family that feels grounded, flexible, and sustainable, without the guilt or the rigidity that can lead to bigger problems down the road.

Everything else There isn't enough space on this website to fit all the food and eating "stuff" that our dietitians can help your family overcome. If you have a problem, we can help you find a solution that fits your lifestyle. Nutrition advice is never black-or-white, it very much lives in the grey area.

What Can I Expect During a Family Session at Radica?

Every family is different, so we meet you where you are. Some sessions include the whole family together, kids and all. Others are just for the parent or caregiver who needs space to think, ask questions, and make a plan. We also see couples without kids! We'll figure out what works best for your household together.

Like all of our work at Radica, family nutrition counseling is non-diet and weight-inclusive. We're not here to put you or your kids on a diet or teach them to fear certain foods. We're here to help your whole family feel good about eating, both now and for a life time.

We will start with a conversation about your family: your routines, your challenges, who eats what, and what mealtime actually looks like in your house on a Tuesday night. From there we build something practical together: meal ideas, grocery strategies, scripts for navigating picky eating, and a framework for thinking about food that the whole family can grow into.

The table should be a place your family actually wants to gather. If mealtimes in your house feel more stressful than they should, we'd love to help change that.

How Does Family-Based Nutrition Counseling Differ from Individual Nutrition Counseling?

Individual counseling is about you and your relationship with food. Family counseling is about what happens when everyone sits down together. From the picky eater, the distracted teenager, and the adult who refuses to eat a vegetable. We look at the whole household: the routines, the dynamics, the unspoken rules around food that have been there so long nobody remembers where they came from. It's a different kind of work, and for a lot of families, it's the missing piece.

Can My Dietitian Help My Family with a Meal Plan?

Yes, and it'll look nothing like the meal plans you've tried before. We'll build a menu together, around your family's actual preferences, schedule, and the reality of busy weeknights. The goal isn't a perfect menu. It's a flexible plan your family will actually follow, and the skills to adapt it when life gets in the way.

Who Can I Bring Into a Session, and Can I Combine Both Individual and Family Sessions if Needed?

Family sessions are open to whoever is part of your family's food story: a partner, co-parent, grandparent, or kids of any age. No family looks the same, and we don't expect yours to fit a mold.

As for combining individual and family sessions — absolutely. Many of our clients do both, and our packages are designed with exactly that flexibility in mind. Use your sessions however they serve you best.
